Board of Management
Who runs Lews Castle College?
Well, the college has a Senior Management Team that is responsible for the quality and effectiveness of all college courses and services. You may be surprised to learn, however, that all college employees are employed by the Lews Castle College Board of Management.
Meet the current Lews Castle College Board of Management.
What do they do, then?
This group of volunteers, based within the communities of the Outer Hebrides, come from all walks of life and are responsible for setting the strategic direction of college business, and for monitoring the financial viability of the college.
Who are they?
They are keen and enthusiastic islanders who bring their specialist skills and knowledge to this vital role in supporting and developing Lews Castle College, a key academic partner in the creation of a University of the Highlands & Islands.
The people of the Outer Hebrides have a rich heritage of volunteering to support a broad range of agencies and services that are community based.
This is particularly important to us, as Lews Castle College is a major employer in the Outer Hebrides, and critical to the economic development of the islands.
As the college has bases in Stornoway, Benbecula and Barra the place of residence of current Board Members reflects this geographical spread across the islands.
There are currently vacancies for some new Board members.
