Ceòlas Summer School
This award-winning community-based summer school in dance and traditional music is held in South Uist every year at the beginning of July. Internationally renowned tutors from Scotland and Canada give master-classes for adults in Gaelic song, pipes, fiddle, step-dance, Scotch reels and quadrilles. The teaching philosophy places a strong emphasis on the musical relationship between disciplines and the rhythms of the Gaelic language. Daily lessons and lectures in Gaelic are also offered, as well as a lively programme of evening activities including house cèilidhs, sessions, performances and a trip to the Island of Eriskay. See their web pages for more information: www.ceolas.co.uk
Duration and Location
Both courses begin early in September and run until June. They are based at Lews Castle College Benbecula.

A small bursary may also be available depending on an applicant’s financial status.
