Learning Support Policy
Learning support is available to all students.
LEARNING SERVICES
Help is available in the following areas:

Basic literacy, numeracy and life skills

Extra tuition in maths/communication

Tuition to overcome a specific area of difficulty e.g. spelling and grammar.
Help could also be arranged for students with a specific difficulty e.g.
-
Dyslexia
-
Sensory impairment
-
Physical disability
-
Mental health problems
A variety of courses are available for students with learning difficulties: Access 1 and Access 2/3. These courses provide extra support for individuals, and this is written into a personal support plan. Account is taken of the strengths and weaknesses of each student, and work is tailored to individual needs.
Learning support auxiliary provision is also available to:

Assist students access practical units
-
Support work placements
-
Scribe/read for students with specific difficulties
-
Support students, inclusive of personal and physical care, with severe mobility problems.
LEARNING SERVICES DROP-IN
If you feel you need support with Study Skills, Numeracy, IT or English (spelling, writing, English for speakers of other languages) you can get help at regular drop-in sessions. Times will be publicized through Student Services. The contact person is Barbara Ziehm (Tel: 770411).
Students who are based in Learning Centres should contact the centre manager.
