Electronic Resources

Electronic resources are those available to students online. They may be books (e-books) or journals, or databases or portals such as SCRAN or SOSIG.

Many require purchase, and are therefore made available through subscription by the college or UHI, but many excellent resources eg. Intute, are freely available. Access to those on subscription is by username and password, usually college username and password; a few, eg. Gale Databases, require a different username - please see library staff.

Some eg Science Direct, JSTOR and EBSCO, offer a wide range of full-text electronic journals, others offer citations, table of contents, or abstracts, with full-text articles available for online purchase. This tends to be expensive, so check for access through full-text resources first. If not available, and you still want the article, purchase through inter-library loan may be an option. Please ask staff.
