  LETTER 'A'  
 

a’ (letter a followed by the apostrophe)
a’ represents the English word 'the' before feminine nouns beginning with b, c, g, m and p.

  • a’ bhùth
  • a’ mhachair
  • a’ chèis

note: there is a space after the apostrophe

a’ is also the English '-ing' part of verbal nouns beginning with a consonant.
e.g.

  • Tha mi a' sealltainn
  • Tha mi a' leughadh

note: there is a space after the apostrophe
Also note there are exceptions

  • Tha mi ag ràdh
