Duration & Mode

Part-Time, Online, Distance Learning, Short Course
15 weeks supported distance learning.  All course materials are online.  No college attendance required.
The course runs twice yearly in January and September

Description

This course will develop the skills and knowledge needed to:

  • Analyse personal strengths and areas for development in relation to university-level studies
  • Demonstrate effective written and oral communication of complex information selected from multiple sources
  • Apply and demonstrate a systematic approach to the development and evaluation of personal learning and study skills, including group work.


This module will introduce students to the process of planning, implementing and evaluating skills acquisition and competence in areas of Learning and Study Skills, Communication Skills and Team Working Skills.  This course is a SCQF level 7 module which is being offered online to students across the Highlands and Islands to give entry qualifications to a number of UHI degree courses.  Successful achievement of this course guarantees entry to BA Health Studies, BSc Rural development Studies and BA Child and Youth Studies.

Lews Castle College has established a partnership with Learning centres across the area and they are actively promoting this course as a positive step for adults without conventional academic qualifications who are aspiring to study at Degree Level.  Candidates who achieve will be able to start degree courses in September 2009.
