Steps To Further Education
This course is designed for people who are undecided about future career options and who want a new educational experience and wish to develop personal, social and vocational skills. The course will appeal to those who disliked school and also those who have been out of college for some time and think they have forgotten how to learn.

A genuine interest in the course, a willingness to learn and a positive attitude are regarded as suitable entry requirements. All applicants will be interviewed prior to admission to the course.

1 Year Full-Time
Description
Steps to Further Education is aimed at people who have no, or few, qualifications. This is a general course for people who want to acquire or improve core skills and develop self-confidence. Students will be given the opportunity at interview, to select optional subjects to study from different curricular areas across the college.
The course includes the PDA Intermediate 1 Award in Personal Development. This provides candidates with opportunities to gain knowledge of and develop personal, social and vocational skills and qualities including:
- Task management skills.
- Interpersonal skills such as how to work in a group, being sensitive to the feelings of others and speaking to a group.
- Self awareness, self reliance, self esteem and self confidence.
- Self evaluation skills, including use of appropriate evaluation techniques, reviewing and target setting.
Attendance
This course is full-time and requires the student to spend 36 weeks on course work.
Funding
Students will be funded by bursary. Application forms are made available on acceptance onto course.
