FE Introduction to Celtic Studies

This one year full-time further education course will appeal to those interested in the diverse field of Celtic Studies. You will have the opportunity to study the language, literature and cultural heritage of Gaelic Scotland.

Entry Requirements

While some units in the course may require prior knowledge or skills, entry to this course is very much at the discretion of the college. You will be interviewed by college staff, when you will have to demonstrate a mature attitude and real enthusiasm for the course.

 

Duration and Mode

1 Year Full-Time

 

Description

The course includes the opportunity to study local sites of archaeological interest, genealogy, folklore, Gaelic literature and Scottish history with particular reference to Gaeldom. 

Students will, depending on their ability, have the option to study a range of Gaelic language modules. These will be agreed with students at the beginning of the course.  For students who can demonstrate competence in music there may be the opportunity to study contemporary Gaelic song writing.

Progression

Successful completion of the course may lead to progression on to first year degree courses in Gaelic studies, or other higher education programmes offered by Lews Castle College.
