QUALITY AND PROFESSIONALISM
The University of Strathclyde's Jordanhill campus is well-known across Scotland as the nation's largest provider of teacher-training. Through our chartered teacher programme, its educational resources and professional expertise are now available to practising teachers throughout the Highlands and Islands.
The core modules of the new chartered teacher programme have been designed by faculty of education staff at Jordanhill and will be professionally delivered through the UHI network. Option modules cover a range of subjects geared towards the needs of teachers in the region.
ON YOUR DOORSTEP
In most cases you can access parts of your course through your local college or learning centre, as well as studying at home or work. Tutors, learning support and fellow students are usually close at hand - so you'll never be far from a friendly face!
We use a 'blended learning approach' which mixes web-based materials, video and audio conferencing, email and telephone support. Our students find that their computer skills develop quickly and that they enjoy the freedom and flexibility of working this way.
PACE YOUR LEARNING TO FIT YOUR LIFE
Our part-time programme can be taken module by module, at a pace which fits in with the other priorities in your life. You can exit after four modules with the Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert), or continue studying to gain either the Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) or our Masters degree, MSc Chartered Teacher.
By the end of the Masters programme you will have developed your capabilities in significant areas of professional action, sufficient to meet the requirements of the standard for chartered teacher. Your qualification will be an award of the University of Strathclyde, professionally accredited by the General Teaching Council for Scotland.
Each module is worth 15 SCOTCAT credits level 11 (Masters), transferable within the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework.
You will be expected to complete four core modules, four option modules and a research dissertation to qualify for the Masters degree.
