BA Childhood Practice

This degree offers practitioners in a wide range of early years and childcare settings the opportunity to gain the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) recognised qualification to be a lead practitioner or manager.

Entry Requirements

HNC Education and Childcare or equivalent. You must be in a relevant workplace environment and have the equivalent of the first year of a degree from previous qualifications and RPL to enter the second year of the course. Other relevant qualifications may also be considered, as defined by SSSC in addition to appropriate experience. Please contact us if you have any queries about eligibility

Access route
Access routes into the degree vary but will be based on relevant professional qualifications as defined by SSSC plus appropriate experience.

 

Duration and Mode

Part-time over two - four years; structured online 

 

Description

The course is designed to meet the Scottish subject benchmark statement, The Standard for Childhood Practice. You will have the opportunity to relate theory to workplace practice and investigate in -depth an area of interest to you. The course will also give you the skills needed for further professional qualifications. You will study part-time through supported online learning via the UHI VLE with a compulsory one-day induction at your enrolling college.

Assessments will be through a series of assignments and formal examinations.
