Katrina Maciver - BA (Hons) Health Studies Degree Student

Another student who has taken advantage of the opportunities to develop new skills and knowledge in Health Studies is Katrina Maciver who enrolled as a full time student on the BA (Hons) Health Studies degree  this year.

"I chose the Health Studies degree as I wanted to improve my future job prospects and  change direction.  I had previously worked with the council , after leaving school at 16, and then moved to the Health Board - working as an Admin Assistant with the Alcohol & Drug Partnership.  Working there provided me with an interest in Health Studies and was one of the main reasons I signed up for the Health Studies degree.  It was a big step for me to decide to go to university having gone straight into employment when I left school, but I wanted a fresh start and Lews Castle College UHI has given me that.  I'm studying full-time; the degree is taught online, which means I can be flexible about when I study.  The facilities for studying at Lews Castle College UHI are excellent, with supportive teaching and library staff.  Although it was a major decision for me I haven't looked back and I'm thoroughly enjoying my time on the degree" she added.
