MLitt Highlands and Islands Literature

The postgraduate MLitt Highlands and Islands Literature allows you to study the writers and literatures of the Highlands and Islands in the communities to which they belong.

MLitt Orkney and Shetland Studies

This course covers various aspects of the culture of the Northern Isles – from literature and language through folklore and history to archaeology. The Orkney and Shetland Islands, along with Caithness on the Scottish mainland, are identified primarily in terms of their Nordic cultural and linguistic heritage. They are positioned at the centre of the Nordic world and combine a wealth of archaeological and cultural heritage due to their strategic importance through the ages.
