Description

This course has been designed by CITB to prepare the apprentice for life as a joiner and to allow progression to higher qualifications.  A workplace based course, with blocks of college attendance.

As from August 2002 training and education of apprentices in Scotland had to change to take account of new legislation.  This meant that SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority) could no longer accredit SVQs using it's own units.

The SVQ Level 3 now consists of:

12 x National Occupational Standards (NOS)
CITB Health and Safety Test
Skills Test (taken at the end of the apprenticeship)
Workplace Assessment

Both levels 2 and 3 are awarded jointly by SQA and SBATC
Course Code: LESVQCJ

Progression

Advanced Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery
Joinery/Advanced Construction Practice/Higher National (Specialist)/Degree
After completion of the course further study can lead to a career as a Trade Foreman; General Foreman; Site Agent; Building Surveyor, etc.
