Students' Union
Students are represented by the Students’ Union. The Students’ Union is affiliated to the National Union of Students (NUS) which has a very large student membership throughout the country.
The Students’ Union consists of your elected class representatives plus 4 elected officers from the student body. These officers are President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The President represents the students on the college Board of Management.
Details of the procedure for electing class representatives and the officers of the Union will be discussed with students during the early days of the session. The elections will usually take place before the October holiday.
The success and strength of the Students’ Union is dependent on you the individual student. The more involved people are in the Union, i.e. in forwarding themselves as representatives and/or officers, the more effective the Union will be. When the representatives are chosen, the involvement doesn’t end there but continues throughout the year.
Note: A copy of the Code of Practice for Student Affairs may be obtained at Reception or from the Learning Centre Manager if you are interested.
