Opportunities for all!
Lews Castle College this month introduces its programme of Evening Classes, Short Courses and Part-time study for this autumn and winter which provides a wide range of opportunities for people to develop their skills and interests.
Fuel Poverty – A thing of the past?
Fuel Poverty and the issues relating to the increasing costs of heating our homes have recently had a high profile in the media and interest in the issue is likely to grow further with the further increases in fuel prices which are forecast which will result in many more families being forced into Fuel Poverty.

During the week of 12 September a high-powered delegation from Iceland visited the UHI and met with a number of senior staff.
Lifeshaper Success
Lifeshaper is a 12 week programme run by Western Isles Foyer in partnership with Lews Castle College and Aberdeen Foyer aimed to enhance individuals’ independent living skills.
Fresh start at Lews Castle College
The first new students enrolling at Lews Castle College, for session 2011/12 begin their courses with Induction this week. This session is unique in that this is the first session that the college and UHI [ the University of the Highlands and Islands ] offers degree courses having been granted full university status.

Scottish Colleges Performance Indicators
The Scottish Funding Council recently published Performance Indicators for Scottish Colleges. These show Lews Castle College as making significant progress in a number of areas and also that the college is one of the better performing colleges in Scotland on a number of indicators – three of which are outlined below:
