Sustainable Energy: XML and Web Services Applications

Rationale for the research

Currently undertaking a PhD with UHI and based in the Greenspace Research Group at Lews Castle College on the Isle of Lewis.

PhD topic is looking at interoperability between sustainable energy software tools using XML and Semantic Web technologies. Focusing on interoperability between building energy tools and between energy economic tools. Currently involved in a European research project called SUSPLAN (http://www.susplan.eu) looking at interoperability between the tools that are going to be used in the project as well as building regional case studies to model renewable energy integration between 2030 and 2050.

Prior to starting with Greenspace Research, Malcolm carried out an undergraduate degree (BSc Hons) in Computer Science at Strathclyde University and graduated in the summer of 2007. Malcolm Grew up in Stornoway, and went to school at the Nicolson Institute and prior to that, Stornoway Primary.
