apprenticeship

A Modern Apprenticeship is a job which lets you earn a wage and gain an industry-recognised qualification, combining the qualification with on-the-job experience. This lets people work, learn and earn at the same time.

The University of the Highlands and Islands is one of the largest providers of apprenticeship training in Scotland. Here at Lews Castle College we offer a range of Modern Apprenticeships that range from Business Admin to Engineering and Child Care.

All 16 - 19 year olds are eligible provided they are in employment. Funding may also be available for ages 20 - 24 and 25+ in certain sectors.

For employers, modern apprenticeships help develop your workforce by training new staff, and upskilling existing employees. Employers who’ve taken on MAs are positive about the experience. 96% say those who’ve undertook a Modern Apprenticeship are more able to do their job. They also praised MAs for improving productivity, staff morale, and service and product quality. Modern Apprenticeships offer the opportunity to enhance Scotland’s work-based learning system and reduce youth unemployment.

Here at Lews Castle College UHI we offer a range of Modern Apprenticeships in Business & Admin, Social Services, Engineering and more.
