European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) Certificate

What is special about this course?

ECDL is an internationally recognised qualification that enables people to demonstrate their competence in computer skills. The ECDL certificate indicates that the holder has passed one theoretical test and six practice based tests.

The ECDL Advanced qualification is designed to progress the computer skills benchmark from the ECDL to next level of competence. It is modular and a certificate is awarded for successfully passing the test for each module. ECDL Advanced Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Database, and Presentation modules are currently available.

  • Some IT skills are essential.
  • The BCS Word Processing, Spreadsheet and Database qualiifications would be desirable.
  • Security for IT users
  • IT user Fundamentals

  • Presentation software
  • Using Email and the Internet.

How will I study my course?

  • Part Time
  • Evening

Candidates have access to tutor support at one 2-hour class per week.


How long will my course last?


160 hrs

Day classes  take place on Mondays 1400-1600 and Fridays 0900-1100 in Stornoway and in Barra Learning Centre, Castlebay on Thursdays 17.00 to 19.00.

Evening classes take place on Tuesdays 18.00 to 20.00 in Stornoway.

Fees

Most full-time students will have their fees paid.

Students on part-time courses may also be eligible to have their course fees waived.
