What is special about this course?
This course is aimed at getting people into employment within the electrical industry and is for you if you are interested in a career as an electrician or wish to gain a working knowledge of the electrical contracting industry.
The course is designed to give you an insight into Electrical Installation and involves electrical installation work but also includes other practical activities.
English, Mathematics and one Science at National 4 or above of which either Maths or Science should be at National 5
Other equivalent qualifications
Applicants will be interviewed prior to acceptance on the course.

Fundamental Electrical Systems
Safe Working Practices
Transformation and Rectification
Practical skills include: Installation of a wide variety of electrical wiring systems

Course delivery is by face to face and is both classroom and workshop based.

Most full-time students will have their fees paid.
Students on part-time courses may also be eligible to have their course fees waived.

Further study opportunities
Students who achieve NC in Electrical Engineering (level 5) may progress to:
- NC Engineering Systems Level 6 leading to HNC Engineering Systems or 1st year BEng degree programme in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
The award is a vocational qualification designed to prepare the candidate for employment, specifically a Modern Apprenticeship in Electrical Installation (SVQ Level 3), subject to obtaining employment with an Electrical Contractor.
