Fabrication and Welding Engineering NC Level 5

What is special about this course?

This course provides students with the opportunity to gain a nationally accredited award in Engineering. This programme provides desirable pre-apprenticeship training for people seeking an apprenticeship in Engineering. The course gives the student a broad range of practical skills and also an introduction to academic subjects relevant to Engineering.

Entry requirements

The course is delivered at SCQF levels 5 and 6.  Candidates are expected to have a practical aptitude and be educated to SCQF level 4.

Candidates would be expected to have achieved a minimum of three National 4 qualifications including Maths and English.

If you do not meet this criteria, but have alternative National 4 qualifications and SQA Skills for Work Engineering, you may be considered on your individual merits.

All suitable applicants will be interviewed prior to acceptance on the course.

Most full-time students will have their fees paid.

Students on part-time courses may also be eligible to have their course fees waived.

Students who achieve NC Engineering Practice Fabrication/Welding may progress to:

  • Advanced Engineering Practice Fabrication/Welding
  • HNC Engineering Fabrication, Welding & Inspection.
