This course is the perfect starting point for anyone interested in learning how to create their own dress making patterns and learn how to sew garments. 

Over the course of 12 Weeks you will develop an understanding of and be introduced to the skills involved in flat pattern cutting for womenswear. From the drafting of foundation 'blocks' for a waist suspended garment
to understanding basic manipulation techniques, how to create a 'Production Patterns' and how to sew a professional toile.

All materials are included in the cost of this course and all patterns are drafted to an industry standard.

Bodice Pattern Cutting & Toiling

This course is an introduction to developing Pattern Cutting skills for basic shoulder suspended garments.  Over the course of ten weeks you will create your own womenswear bodice block and be taught basic manipulation techniques.

You will also have the opportunity to create a calico Toile of a shoulder suspended garment using industrial sewing techniques and machines in the LCC UHI Fashion Studio.

All materials are included in the cost of this course and all patterns are drafted to an industry standard.

This course is ideal for anyone interested in learning how to develop their existing skill base in Art, Design & Fashion.

Design Your Own Mini Harris Tweed Tailored Jacket

This short course will introduce you to using industrial sewing machines and all of the sewing techniques used when making a tailored Harris Tweed Jacket.


To ease you into developing these skills the final jacket you make will be 'miniature' in size. ALL materials (inclusive of Harris Tweed) will be provided as part of this course.

The course will be run in the LCC Fashion Studio using industrial sewing machines, overlockers and steam presses.


Please note previous experience of using industrial machines is not required but this is not a beginner’s sewing class.
