Lews Castle College UHI is an academic partner of the University of the Highlands and Islands, the United Kingdom’s leading integrated university encompassing both further and higher education. The College provides a diverse range of courses to students in Lewis, North Uist, Benbecula and Barra.
We are currently looking for talented and enthusiastic individuals who have a strong commitment to Further and Higher Education to join our Board of Management as Independent Board Members.
Board Members make an important contribution to Lews Castle College UHI and their experience, knowledge and commitment enables them to contribute to the College’s strategic direction, decision-making and continued development while also acting as ambassadors to communicate our activities to their contacts throughout the local area and beyond.

Successful appointees will be expected to undertake a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme check.
Positions on the Board are voluntary and unpaid, but bring huge rewards to members. Your input can make a real difference to the education and prospects of our learners and to the wellbeing and success of the communities where they live.
A minimum time commitment of approximately six days per year is required: the roles require attendance at four Board meetings a year (usually early evening) and members may join a Board sub-committee, which also meets three to four times a year. Reasonable out of pocket expenses for Board business are reimbursed.
Appointments will be for four years in the first instance, with the position available. Candidates must not be employees or students of the College.
